Arjun Kapoor: Lesser known facts

Arjun-Kapoor5

According to a report on Pinkvilla.com, Arjun Kapoor has urged the youth of India to think about the planet. The actor is the face of Earth Hour. The report further quoted Arjun as saying that it is important to talk to the youth as they are the drivers of the future and they need to be told about conservation of power. The report also stated that Arjun encouraged the youth to conserve energy for a better future.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Arjun Kapoor has been depressed. However, being persecuted for the infamous roast is the least of his worries. Apparently, a lot had been riding on his last release, Tevar, and the actor had been telling everyone as much. Now that the film has bombed, along with a string of other films in the past, Arjun is back to the drawing board with Shimit Amin, the report stated. Further to the report, buzz is that Arjun Kapoor is prepping hard for Amin’s next, which is more Rocket Singh than Chak De, in its scope for the male lead. The shoot starts this summer and if you find Arjun missing from the social scene, you know where to find him..

Arjun Kapoor, despite riding on his father’s name and the Kapoor surname, has earned his way to the top. He cracked the auditions at Yash Raj Films for Ishaqzaade, and then there was no looking back for the actor. Slowly making his way to the top, we take you through some of the lesser known facts about the actor. Most actors have phobias, and there is something that Arjun Kapoor fears. According to a report in Bombay Times, Arjun has a rather odd phobia, he has the fear of ceiling fans. And because of this phobia, Arjun doesn’t have a single ceiling fan in his house.

Salman Khan connection: Arjun Kapoor was in love with Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita Khan. According to a report in The Times of India, Arjun Kapoor confessed that he was scared of telling Salman about his relationship with Arpita. However when he did tell the entire family, Salman was taken aback. But everyone was kind about it. Even after breaking up with Arpita, Salman and Arjun continued to be friends. Describing his friendship with Salman Khan, Arjun said, “The one thing that I love about him, and aspire to learn from him, is how he has never changed. People around him have changed but his success and failure never affects him. His box office records never bother him. I was with him for four years and have seen him through many good and bad films. He is a regular guy who is as moody as all of us with bad and good days. He listens to you, is understanding and has an elephant’s memory.”

Plans to become a director: Like every other star kid, Arjun Kapoor also began his career by assisting several big directors in Bollywood. Arjun Kapoor has been an assistant director to Nikhil Advani for Kal Ho Naa Ho and Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love. He has also been the assistant producer for No Entry and Wanted, both of which were produced by his father Boney Kapoor and starred Salman Khan as the leading man. “I was 140 kg, was assisting Nikhil Advani in Salaam-E-Ishq and had a girlfriend (Arpita Khan), would party and felt my life was headed in the right direction and felt sorted and thought that I would direct my film by 22, till she broke up with me and suddenly I was confused about what my future held for me,” said Arjun Kapoor in an interview with The Times of India. The popular actor still nurses the dream of directing a film. According to reports, whenever Arjun decides to direct a film, he will not be acting in it for sure.

Family life: Arjun Kapoor was very close to his mother Mona Kapoor. She passed away, a little before Arjun Kapoor’s first film Ishaqzaade hit the screens. “I know she resides in me and I reflect her in every step I take,” Arjun said in an interview with The Times of India. Boney Kapoor was married to Sridevi and Arjun had no bitter feelings about it. “I don’t know if it is about making peace. I love my father and she’s a part of his life. Besides I’ve been brought up to be respectful and decent to people,” added Arjun Kapoor. While Arjun was not sure of his Bollywood career, he was sure that Boney Kapoor would support him. Arjun further said, “Maybe, I knew somewhere, that I had my dad backing me and had I been a failure, I would probably make films with him, but I did not want to do that.”

Link-ups: Arjun Kapoor had reportedly confessed that he was dating Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita Khan, and that this was the first and only serious relationship he had. However, later the actor was linked to his co-stars, Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra. Arjun once revealed in an interview that he doesn’t like to restrict himself to any particular type of girl. According to a report in India Today, Arjun said, “I don’t have a type for girls. It keeps changing. You have a type and then suddenly someone else seems interesting. The truth is all women are beautiful, so why define them in a way that restricts the thought process?”

Nickname: Arjun Kapoor reportedly weighed 140 kg and had to lose it all for a toned frame to flaunt in Bollywood. The actor credits Salman Khan for making him an actor and lose weight. “I was a very happy fat kid, and still love eating. I was embarrassed about what people would think about me. I was nervous to go to the gym. But now I love working out,” said Arjun Kapoor. The actor is lovingly called Fubu by his friends and family. Arjun reveals the secret behind the interesting nick name that he earned. “My friends still call me Fubu. It used to be a brand of clothing in America and they used to have clothes in big sizes. Obviously I was fond of wearing colourful clothes, but I used to never fit into them. So Fubu used to make football jerseys and I used to only wear those and roam around. I was fond of sports, but I couldn’t play, so I used to wear the jerseys. And the name is stuck by even today. Priyanka Chopra calls me Fubu on sets and I keep reminding her that you cannot call me that, at least not on the sets. It is very strange.”

Alleged real-life couple Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt will apparently set the temperature scorching as they share multiple onscreen kisses in their upcoming movie ‘2 States’. The 3 film old actor has kissed in his first two films and continues the legacy in his upcoming films as well. Arjun Kapoor kissed Parineeti Chopra in his debut film Ishaqzaade. He then went on to kiss costar Sasha Agha in Aurangzeb. Not to forget he had steamy lovemaking scenes with his costars as well. Does this mean he has taken the title of ‘serial-kisser’ from Emraan Hashmi?

Arjun Kapoor’s cousin brother Harshvardhan Kapoor is gearing up for his debut with Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirziya’. The actor opens up about his cousin and said that he is on a completely different tangent adding that he is the antithesis of him.In an interview with DNA, Arjun said, “Harsh is on a completely different tangent. Harsh is the antithesis of me. He is not Anil Kapoor’s son in the essence of being a typical Hindi film hero. He is more the Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap kind.”The ‘Ishaqzaade’ star also said that he did a big mistake of acting out his uncle Anil’s dialogues and mannerisms on a chat show because since then people have been asking him to imitate the ‘Ram Lakhan’ actor. He added, “I can’t imagine what’s going to happen to Harsh when he joins the industry. He is like, ‘No bro, I can’t do any of that. Ram Lakhan and all is not my scene, bro’.”

Harshvardhan Kapoor is the antithesis of me: Arjun Kapoor

Arjun Kapoor is the proverbial Bollywoodkid. A fan of chachu Anil kapoor’s movies like Ram Lakhan, the actor is often asked to enact his uncle’s mannerisms or say ‘jhakaas’ like his uncle used to.

Now Anil’s son Harshvardhan will be making his debut in Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s movie Mirziya. Howver, the two brothers’ likings are miles apart. Though Arjun is very close and fond of his cousins – Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan – his movie choices are very radically different from those of his cousin brother.Arjun says, “What happened with me was that I made the biggest mistake of acting out Anil chachu’s dialogues and mannerisms on Koffee with Karan. The whole world saw it. Now everywhere I go they make me act like Anil Kapoor. It’s become a staple now, ki aaye ho toh Anil chachu ke jaise acting karo, ya dance karo, ya ek dialogue bol ke dikhao. I can’t imagine what’s going to happen to Harsh when he joins the industry. He is like, ‘No bro, I can’t do any of that. Ram Lakhan and all is not my scene, bro’.”It was Harsh, who convinced dad Anil to sign Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. Anil was unaware of the director’s work and wasn’t too sure about signing the film. Arjun says, “Harsh is on a completely different tangent. Harsh is the antithesis of me. He is not Anil Kapoor’s son in the essence of being a typical Hindi film hero. He is more the Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap kind.”

I don’t want to explain myself to anyone: Arjun Kapoor

Whether it’s link-up rumours with actor Sonakshi Sinha, a recently reported fight with actor Alia Bhatt or taking off mysteriously to Goa, Arjun Kapoor says he won’t justify his actions to anyone.

“I don’t want to explain myself to anyone. When you are a known person, there are certain things that you like to hold back, and certain things which you would like to share. I feel I have done a decent job of balancing these till now,” says the 29-year-old actor, who was in the city as part of WWF’s Earth Hour initiative.Kapoor feels that social media has provided the perfect platform for public figures to communicate with their fans directly. “Today, with a medium like Twitter, you can explain things to fans yourself. If I ever want to say something, that is the best medium,” he says, adding, “So even if there are speculative stories, I can clear everything this way.”And after a point, he prefers to stop. “You can’t go on  justifying something again and again. At a certain point, you have to stop, you can’t keep explaining yourself,” says the actor. For instance, he’s not going to say anything about the AIB roast of which he was a part, since enough has been said about it. The controversial show was condemned by many in the industry, including actor Aamir Khan. “I think enough has been said and spoken about this (roast). I don’t think I need to add anything now,” he says.

Baba’s New Mohawk Hairstyle For Summer….

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has followed in the footsteps of Shahid Kapoor and unveiled his new shorter, mohawk hairstyle.
The 29-year-old 2 States star called the latest change in his hair-do an “experiment”.

“I FELT LIKE CUTTING MY HAIR BECAUSE SUMMER IS HERE. I WAS GROWING MY HAIR OUT FOR A BIT AND I GOT BORED OF IT,” SAID ARJUN.

Actor Arjun Kapoor’s latest mohawk-inspired hairstyle is not for any movie role. He says he wanted a change for the summer season.
“I felt like cutting my hair because summer is here. I was growing my hair out for a bit and I got bored of it, it wasn’t any thought out or planned. I just went to get my hair trimmed and I said, ‘You know I’m kind of bored and it’s going to get hot very soon, so let’s get a hair cut’,” Arjun told IANS.
The 29-year-old debuted his new hairstyle via a Twitter post.
The actor was in the capital on Saturday as the brand ambassador of the Earth Hour when he opened up to talk about his unique haircut. The Ishaqzaade and Gunday star, who seemed to have put on weight, denied that it was as part of his preparation for an upcoming film.
The actor said, “No, it is not for any film as such. It is just a part and parcel of the fact that I have been training for a long time, so I am bound to see more muscularity in my body.”
Arjun, who was last seen on the silver screen opposite Sonakshi Sinha in Tevar, has reportedly signed a project with the Yash Raj Films (YRF).
Refusing to divulge details, he said, “They (YRF officials) will announce the film very soon. I feel it’s very unfair that an actor announces the film, it should be the producer to announce first, and then I can talk about it. The film will start in the middle of the year,” Arjun said.
The grapevine suggests that Arjun may play the character of a dacoit in his father Boney Kapoor’s next project based on the book The Confession Of Sultana Daku.

Though several critics had said that the movie did not do complete justice to the book, the movie’s box-office business has proved the critics wrong.
